Reducing your Excess

All members are covered by our Standard Excess which includes a £1,250 excess for cars and £1,500 for vans.

If you're aged 22 or over, you can choose  to reduce your excess to £250 per incident with our Excess Protection option. This lowers what you'd need to pay if something happens during your trip.

Whether you’re running quick errands or heading out on a longer trip. Excess Protection is a simple way to enjoy lower excess every time you drive.

What is not covered by Excess Protection

While Excess Protection can significantly reduce the amount you’re liable to pay if a vehicle is damaged or stolen, it doesn’t cover everything.

Members are still responsible for certain types of damage and costs, including:

Tyre Damage - Any punctures, blowouts, or damage to tyres remain your responsibility.

Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Keys - This includes keys, key fobs, key rings, and accessories such as key holders.

Misfuelling - If the wrong type of fuel is added to the vehicle or if fuel becomes contaminated, the associated costs are not covered.

Failure to Secure or Care for the Vehicle - If the vehicle, its keys, or any device used to access or start it is not properly secured or cared for, you remain liable for resulting costs.

  • What is Standard Excess?

The Standard Excess reduces the liability you are responsible for in the event of damage to and or theft of the vehicle, including any towing, storage and impound fees reasonably incurred by us as a result of the damage to and loss or theft of, the Vehicle. Damage Waiver is included in your reservation and comes with an excess, as standard this amount is £1,000 for cars (before 1st March 2026) or £1,250 (after 1st March 2026) & £1,250 for vans (before 1st March 2026) or £1,500 for vans (after 1st March 2026) per incident. This is the money you are liable for in the event of accidental damage to, or theft of, the vehicle.

If the repair cost is less than the applicable excess, you’ll only need to pay that amount.

  • Damage Protection - is this included?

If you have a personal membership (with your own personal payment details), all of our vehicles are covered by damage protection so you do not need to take any insurance out to drive our cars or vans. Third party and passenger liability cover is in place. A damage waiver excess of £1,250 & £1,500 for vans applies if you do have a bump, but you’ll only have to pay this if the accident is deemed to be your fault or a third party can’t be traced. If the repair cost is less than the applicable excess, you’ll only need to pay that amount. For more information, click here
